Bonnet House Museum & Gardens and Fort Lauderdale Historical Society
present two Fall Exhibits at the New River Inn
Opening Reception Thursday, October 2, 6:30-8:30pm

Bonnet House Museum & Gardens in collaboration with the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society present Memories: An exhibition of works by the Bonnet House Fine Artists and Cast your Ballot: Elections in Broward County. A special opening reception will take place on Thursday, October 2 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the New River Inn located at 231 SW 2nd Avenue in Fort Lauderdale.

The exhibitions run from October 3, 2008 through January 4, 2009 and a percentage of Bonnet House Fine Artists art sale proceeds will benefit Bonnet House. Join the Bonnet House Fine Artists on a journey through their memories. These exhibited works create a visual scrapbook of cherished times and places. The Historical Society exhibition gives an overview of the elections process in the county since its origin in 1915. See the county’s first ballot box, courtesy of the Broward Historical Commission, as well as a voting machine from 2000. Also on display, is a presidential postcard sent to Fort Lauderdale pioneer Frank Stranahan discussing the 1908 presidential election.
