Local Government Preservation Program Directory
The Bureau of Historic Preservation, Division of Historical Resources, Florida Department of State, assisted by the Florida Historical Commission, awarded a grant to the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation to create a directory and database of local government preservation programs and ordinances. In January 2007, the Florida Trust awarded a contract to the University of West Florida, Florida Public Archaeology Network (FPAN) to produce the Local Government Preservation Program Directory (LGPPD). This directory consolidates into a single document a listing of the various laws, regulations, and ordinances that involve historic properties around the state. It also contains current contact data and other information that would be useful to historic preservation specialists and other interested citizens in Florida. The Florida Trust envisions the LGPPD to be a tool used to identify existing historic preservation ordinances, financial and tax incentive programs, grant and loan programs, and public education opportunities.
