Dear Members and Friends,
The Broward Trust for Historic Preservation was astounded with the success of last year’s inaugural Historic Holiday Home Tour. Nearly 600 attendees marveled at the beauty of our built history all decorated for the holidays. The positive feedback encouraged us to make this a traditional way for our community to both kick off the holiday season and demonstrate support for the architectural treasures in our midst.
New this year is a pre-tour reception, “An Evening in the Fire House,” on the evening of Saturday, December 2 from 6-8 pm to benefit the historic Fort Lauderdale Fire House and Safety Museum and the Trust-owned historic Annie Beck House in Middle River Terrace Park. Our beloved house is 101 years old and securing the funds for the continual maintenance is an on-going issue. Please join us at the reception and the tour and know that tickets are limited, but your generosity is not.
This year’s tour on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 1-7 pm will open to the public some of our area’s oldest, continuously lived-in residences as well as our tour’s first two mid-century modern jewels. In addition, we will again feature some favorites from last year.
Also, new this year is the option to take your own dedicated trolley to all of the sites instead of driving yourself around. We took last year’s comments to heart and have arranged for two shifts of trolley service; you may reserve tickets for the 1-4pm tour or the 4-7pm tour. Again, seating is limited so book early!
