See famous Mallory Square from the water as we enjoy a special sunset cruise aboard the historic schooner the Spirit of Independence (the Spirit of Independence harbors at the Historic Key West Sea Port, which won a Florida Preservation Award in 2018) and taste the first legal rum distilled in Key West.

The Insider’s Tour: Key West will immerse visitors in Key West’s unique culture, sending them walking through the historic neighborhoods, touring private homes and talking to locals. Begin your days with café con leche and guava toast. Spot iguanas, gypsy chickens and manatees at the Sea Port and enjoy the tastes of this amazing city.

The Insider’s Tour: Key West is September 15-17, 2022, and the tour kick's off with a welcome reception, two full days of touring including lunch and a closing dinner.  This will leave Sunday for a day of exploring on your own. Registration is only $300 for a Florida Trust Members and $350 for guests. This tour has been approved for 10 hours of continuing education credits for AIA and APA.

Some Tour Highlights Include:

  • Experience the historic Key West Sea Port and enjoy a beautiful sunset cruise on the historic schooner the Spirit of Independence.

  • Tour some of Key West’s most interesting private homes and neighborhoods. Learn how the preservation community created innovative solutions for the island’s preservation challenges.

  • During Prohibition, Key West played an important role in the rum-running trade as a stop for smuggling Caribbean rum into Florida speakeasies. We will tour the first legal distillery in Key West, aptly named Key West First Legal Rum Distillery, and enjoy a happy hour event at the 117-year-old distillery building.

  • Experience behind-the-scenes special tours of the Key West Light House, completed in 1825, the historic Custom House Museum, built in 1891 and the Mel Fischer Maritime Museum, a nationally recognized research and archaeology institution that will share exciting finds from shipwreck sites that provide insight into the maritime past.
