Historic preservation is making headlines in Florida. Here's what's happening in August 2022:


St. Augustine, America's oldest city, works to preserve its historic resources in the face of flood risks.


Miami Villagers assist Coral Gables' Actors' Playhouse, located in the historic Miracle Theater, with restoration funds. The group recently presented a check for $7,867 to representatives of Coral Gables’ Actors’ Playhouse. The funds were used to replace the building’s 15-year-old outdated carpet in the lobby and theater aisles and was designed to complement the theater’s historic terrazzo floors.

Actors’ Playhouse is housed in the historic, 74-year-old Miracle Theater, located on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables, was restored in 1995 and is now undergoing an overall renovation.


The American Institute for Conservation has announced Jacksonville as the location for its annual meeting next May.


Preserve the 'Burg founder Peter Belmont receives the Key to the City of St. Petersburg.


Venice's Walter Farley House, one of the Florida Trust's 2020 11 to Save sites, is facing demolition.
